Laser hair removal - Common causes for treatment failure

Laser hair removal - common causes for treatment failure

Disappointments from the laser treatment are a common phenomenon experienced by many people who just wanted to get rid of unwanted hair. Often the culprit is at the laser Institute (for all sorts of reasons) and which are usually not dependent on the client who cannot reduce the extent of the damage.

This time I would like to concentrate on things that are solely depend on the clients and their ability to influence the outcome, as well as the quality of their laser treatment.

1. Maintaining the sequence of treatments prescribed - It is extremely important to maintain the sequence of the treatments as determined by the service provider. The treatment should be performed every 6-8 weeks (depending on the area of the treatment) because of the hair growth cycle and the fact that the hair can be destroyed only when treated on its active phase. It is common that patients tend to postpone their next treatment due to bad weather or even to save some money. This so might disrupt the continuation of treatment so that more treatments will be needed to achieve the desired result, causing a higher total cost.

2. Do not wax the hair - remember that the laser beam must damage and therefore destroy the hair follicle. Pulling the follicle away will prevent the destruction. Therefore, it is possible to shave the hair but never wax it.

3. Avoid excessive tanning. "Burning the skin," caused by over exposure to the sun or by insufficient use of protective sunscreen cream, will prevent you from getting the treatment at the scheduled time forcing you to wait until the tan diminished (two to three weeks), which will necessarily disrupt the desired treatment sequence(see section 1).

4. Frequent changing your service provider - The phenomenon of customers who replace their laser institute in the middle of their laser procedure is very common. Frequently customers start their procedure after having already visited a large number of institutes; hence the task of treating them in an efficient manner becomes very difficult. Each institute uses different methods and/or equipment. Some employ more skilled workers and other less, and the sequence of treatments that is so important for success is not preserved. These factors influence the Institute's ability to ensure appropriate results for the customer.

5. Choosing the right Laser Institute – (Following previous section) choosing the correct laser provider is a prerequisite for getting good results. Many people are tempted to choose an institute according to price or convenience of arrival as its location is relatively close making the journey less burdensome. It should be taken into account that the Laser Institute must be attended only once in two months, a worthwhile effort.

6. Do not start the laser treatment if you are not sure you that you have the financial means to complete it. The phenomenon of starting treatment and discontinuation it after just one or several treatments because of funding difficulties is very common. It is recommended to wait until you have all the financial means to complete the treatment without having to stop it and renew it periodically depending on the condition of your wallet.

Yours Faithfully,

Liliana
