Surviving laser hair removal on the face

Many women attend my clinic after a failed attempt to remove their facial unwanted hair by laser.
First we need to define "face": Upper lip, chin, sideburns and cheeks, jaws, forehead and front neck.
Characteristics of the face area: relatively thin hair with low level of pigment and high hormonal activity.
In addition, the face area is the one mostly define our personality as it is always unveiled to others. This is the reason that women would do anything within their power to look at their best and young as possible. obviously, facial hair will damage this impression therefore they will try to remove it as faster as they can.

Those who followed my posts knows already that the laser removal succession depends on many factors like the hair color and type, the skin type, the hormonal condition and more. All this assuming that the treatment itself is optimal and professional.
Due to the fact that the face area is harder to treat, comparing to other bodily areas, like armpits and legs, it needed to address much more professionalism, naturally, in order of getting sufficient results.

What is vital to avoid when treating the face area for laser hair removal:
1. Avoid the use of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light ) devices.Sometimes called "Infra red" as well.
2.It is strongly recommended to to use the SHR mode or the In Motion treatment. This way of use is commonly done by clinics that offer deals (like "Groupon"). That in order to save treatment time and expenses.
3. Do not have treatment on tanned skin.
4. Do not have any treatment in case that you are using any medication for acne like "Accutan". You must wait a few month from the time you stooped using it before having the laser treatment done.
5. Avoid any treatment by devices that are sold online for using at home and not designed to use by professionals.
6. It is not recommended to start facial laser hair removal procedure if the hair is too thin and/or lacking sufficient pigment (color).

The potential damages caused by non professional treatments are:
1. Burns on the face skin.
2. Pigmentation spots that might be impossible to remove.
3. Turning the hair into very thin, lacking enough pigmentation to be able to remove at all in the future.
4. Accelerated hair growth on the face area.
5. Growth of thicker hair.
6. Growth of hair where there wasn't any before.
7. The need to perform endless laser treatments.
